INTERNAL INITATIVE

THE PEOPLE ASKED, SO I DELIVERED.

During our weekly all-agency meeting, I would show a quick presentation - either a FONK or a summary of an industry-related event I attended in the city. (As you probably guessed already, I love sharing new discoveries - it feeds my soul!) Afterward, I noticed that many of my colleagues frequently asked me to either send them a recap of my presentations, share how I discover different events, or even just how to reference agency assets! So it got me thinking - what if I built a place where it all could live and where anyone could download these materials whenever they wanted?

BRAIN FOOD

A place where you’re free to nourish your curiosity. Discover cool people, do cool sh*t, dig into industry trends beyond the walls of your office, or check out new podcasts for your commute to work.

I’m information-obsessed and pretty much love being on the internet. In this section, I’d publish content that I thought would either be useful for brainstorms or simply to help  people explore unique content they wouldn’t normally venture into on their own. I also tapped my colleagues to submit a podcast series they were currently into so the content wasn’t only feeding my own interests.

FONK

These weekly micro-learning presentations were by far the most requested by my colleagues. I was blown away by how much they looked forward to what I was going to share. During the week, I appreciated most  when someone would message me about putting my tips into practice, pointing out that it gave them a little time back into their day. Remarks such as “OMG you should FONK that next week” became regular office vernacular. It took off even further,  becoming its own learning framework for individual teams to share their own FONK presentations with clients or peers.

HAPPENINGS

People, Places & Things - Coast-to-Coast

I am often asked “where do you hear about all the stuff you go to?”...This is almost impossible to answer in one sentence. But it led me to create the ‘Happenings’ section which showcased different brand activations, community events, industry conferences, or just cool retail stores to check out. Besides, I love seeing people attend events outside of their comfort zone!

RESOURCES

There is a little something for everyone in this section. I created a ‘cheat sheet’ download for interns and new hires who had no idea (but were somehow expected to know?!) what all these acronyms and industry jargon meant. This section became critical as the agency went through a rebrand. It served as a  collective hub where everyone could download the new logos and presentation templates. I also called attention to some of the lesser known agency resources, such as certain subscription services, and put them all in one place for accessibility and ease.

WEEKLY MIXTAPE

All credit goes to Marc Borelli or ‘DJ Marc B’ in his other life for this genius idea. Every Monday, a new person would send him a curated, 10-track playlist that he would share out on our agency Spotify channel. It really gave the Sunday Scaries a run for its money...now we could actually look forward to Mondays! Of course, I also wanted to make all these playlists available in The Squeeze.  *Not for nothing, I broke the rules and sent 12 songs :-)
